Do you want to get your cat safely outside for leash walks so they can get more exercise and activity?

Here are 5 steps you need to take:

Step 1: Harness Train your cat
Pick a harness that makes it easy to train. My favorite: The vest style. It’s safe and does not need to go over your cat’s head so it’s easier to train.

Step 2: Teach your cat to walk on a leash indoors with clicker training! Your cat should understand how to change directions and respond to their name.

Step 3: Get your equipment ready. You need a backpack, treats your cat loves and your cat must wear a tracking device.

Step 4: Plan your exit strategy. I recommend keeping your front door open so your cat can observe the outdoor environment and stay inside. NEVER pick up your cat to take them outside; your cat needs to be in control.

Step 5: Prepare for emergencies: Ensure your cat is comfortable in their backpack and can be picked up if you see an off-leash dog.
